An Interview with Aesthetic Practitioner, Kristina

February 24, 2023

So it has nearly been 4 weeks since Kristina joined the team. Some of you have already had the pleasure of meeting her for your Alumier Peels, Dibi Facials, and Hydr02facials. Feedback so far has been very positive and we can’t wait for more of you to meet her. I thought it would be nice for you all to get to know Kristina a little better, so I put some questions to her.

Tell us a little about your career background, how long have you been working in aesthetics?

So I started working in healthcare back in Latvia and completed a degree in Social Psychology and went on to work in hospitals for mental health patients. After I had my daughter, I saw those signs of ageing for myself and this led to my interest in skincare and beauty. I decided to go to college when moving to the UK to study both Level 2 and Level 3. Through this time, I have worked in different clinics working with a variety of treatments from laser, body treatments such as radiofrequency, fat reduction and skin tightening treatments. I worked as a freelance therapist, specialising in skincare, offering facials to my clients. More recently, I have been studying at university for my Level 5 Aesthetics Practitioner degree, which I’m now in my last year.

What made you want to step into the world of aesthetics?

As I mentioned before, after having my daughter, I started to notice signs of ageing so that was something that kickstarted my love for aesthetics and skincare. I have struggled with my skin in the past, from redness, dry patches, sensitivity and breakouts. I visited my GP on numerous occasions, but they could never really help so I turned to educating myself, and my passion for skin care grew.

What is your aim when working with clients? What would you say is your speciality?

I’m very results driven, so my aim is to always understand my clients goals and make sure we achieve.

What’s your favourite treatment?

I love a relaxing facial, a bit of pampering! With DIBI Milano facials, they are results driven but we can also make sure they are relaxing, something I’m definitely bringing to AKB Aesthetics. I always make sure to add that extra 30 mins of relaxation into your day, while ensuring the best skin care, targeting your concerns – I love giving facial massages.

What’s your skincare life saver?

I love the Alumier Radiant Peels and also the DIBI Milano gold youth cream and masks, these are amazing. If you haven’t tried you need to, I think everyone will be amazed, they really do feel like a treat too.

What’s your daily skin care routine?

I have quite sensitive skin so I stick to a very simple cleanse, tone, moisturise and ALWAYS SPF, as well as regularly exfoliating.

We’ve had some lovely feedback already from your new clients, one saying ‘My skin was so so incredibly smooth and silky. I’ve actually never felt it or seen it look this good!’ How have you found your first few weeks?

It’s been lovely to meet everyone! There have been new clients come through into the clinic as well as Amrita’s regulars. I’m really happy to look after everyone and I’m looking forward to meeting more and branching out to offer more treatments.

And finally tell us about you – what are your hobbies, what do you do outside of AKB Aesthetics?

I spend a lot of time with my family and young daughter. I’m studying a lot at the moment, as I’m in my final year of my degree. In my spare time, I really love exploring new places and travelling around the UK. I have been here since 2011 and I do try to visit family in Latvia when I can.
