Advanced Electrolysis Treatment in action.

Treatment Spotlight: ADVANCED ELECTROLYSIS

September 25, 2023

Electrolysis is an advanced thermolysis treatment that can help treat a wide variety of skin imperfections, offering a path to flawless, radiant skin.

The treatment is a non-invasive, precise, and safe treatment that uses electrical currents to target and treat various skin concerns. Unlike traditional electrolysis, which primarily focuses on hair removal, advanced electrolysis has a broader scope, making it a go-to option for those seeking to improve their skin’s overall appearance.

What Can Advanced Electrolysis Treat?

  • Milia

  • Skin Tags

  • Cherry Angiomas

  • Facial Thread Veins

During electrolysis, we use a very fine needle to prick the skin and pass an electrical current through the lesion and cauterise it. The heating effect of the treatment, when applied to the blemish, causes the structure to be destroyed. It is a very quick, easy and safe process.

After the treatment, the skin begins its natural healing process. Initially, it will form a scab but as it heals, the area will be clear of the unwanted lesions. Facial thread veins may require repeat treatments.

Always be mindful of social events post treatments and our advise would be to have treatment done at least 2 weeks before any event or sun exposure (holiday).

Benefits of Advanced Electrolysis

  • Precision: The procedure precisely targets specific skin imperfections without harming nearby healthy skin.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various skin types and tones, making it accessible to a wide range of patients.
  • Highly Effective: Most patients see significant improvement after just one session, though multiple sessions may be needed for thread veins to see optimal results.

It’s generally well-tolerated and typically requires no local anaesthesia. You may experience a slight stinging sensation.

There is minimal downtime of about 5-14 days, and most individuals resume daily activities immediately after treatment. Initially, the area will scab over and it’s very important not to catch or pick at the scans otherwise there’s a risk of scarring and pigmentation.
After the treatment, the skin begins its natural healing process. The dead skin cells push to the surface and flake off. Most patients see significant improvement after just one session with most lesions, facial thread veins may require repeat treatments for optimal results.
Treatment sessions are 20 mins for £90. During this time, as many lesions will be removed as possible. Smaller ones can be very quick, whereas larger lesions will require more time.

On the day of treatment, keep your skincare routine very simple. Then slowly add in your active ingredients. It’s absolutely crucial to continue to wear SPF after the treatments.

More care is needed post-treatment of facial thread veins. The skin should not be touched for 48 hours and after day 2/3, scabs will form. Only then should you start applying sunscreen and continue with a simple routine initially.

Dr Amrita Bhogal will give you comprehensive post-care instructions and is always available should you have any questions.
